Adam Jensen DDS, Owner Chugach Dental
Since moving to Alaska in 2013, Dr. Adam Jensen has been providing general dentistry to Alaskans from across the state. He graduated from the University of Washington School of Dentistry in 2010 and began his career in public health. Over the last five years, he has honed his skills in IV sedation, dental implants and orthodontics through extensive continuing education. Recently, he realized his dream to provide comprehensive and patient-centered care by opening his own practice, Chugach Dental.
Originally from Montana, Dr. Jensen has cultivated an appreciation for the wilderness and the great outdoors, and you will find breathtaking photography from his adventures throughout the clinic. Outside of dentistry, Adam raced professionally as an Ironman triathlete for 6 years, and is an avid mountain runner and backcountry skier. He enjoys backpacking, flying and spending time outside with his friends and loyal companion, Major the Mountain Dog. Additionally, he likes to support the local running community through volunteering and participation in local races including Mount Marathon.
Matt Shryock, MSN, FNP-C, Nurse Practitioner
Matt Shryock, MSN, FNP-C recently joined Chugach Dental to provide Botox and Juvederm fillers as a unique way to enhance your appearance with safe, natural results.
Matt was born and raised in a small Montana town nestled between a lake and mountains, an environment that first cultivated his hunger for adventure, the outdoors, and healthy living. He pursued his undergraduate degree in Human Biology at The University of Montana before returning to complete a degree in Registered Nursing. He moved to Alaska in 2014 and worked as an RN in the Emergency Department at Providence Alaska Medical Center for 4 years. His professional experience includes organ donation, cardiac catheterization, and emergency nursing.
He graduated with a Master’s degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Gonzaga University in 2019. He enjoys practicing all aspects of cardiology in both the hospital and clinic settings. Outside of work, Matt enjoys traveling, mountain running, yoga, backcountry mountaineering, Nordic skiing, and cooking healthy, delicious meals.
Melissa Castle, Hygienist
Melissa Castle is our hygienist of the Chugach Dental team. She was born and raised in Craig of Southeast Alaska. Moving to Anchorage for secondary education, she graduated from the University of Alaska Anchorage in 2016 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Dental Hygiene. Melissa can help sparkle your smile, fine tune your home care, and get you on track to keeping a healthy mouth clean!
When Melissa is not practicing dental hygiene at the office, you can catch her and her mini beagle, Karta, doing any of the Alaskan things. Her favorites are hiking, hunting, and skiing!
Andrea, Treatment Coordinator
Andrea is a metaphorical dental swiss-army knife in that she can assist, schedule appointments, coordinate patient care and navigate dental insurance. On any given day, she is happy to serve you chairside throughout a procedure or administratively at the front desk.
Andrea is a mother of three who graduated with her B.A. in Business Management from UAA in 2016. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, reading, building her online business, working out, and cooking meals from around the world. Andrea’s fourth child is her Yorkie named Ella.
Lena, Dental Assistant
Lena has served as Dr. Jensen’s dental assistant since 2013, and together they have cared for dental patients from every corner of this great state. Lena will be by your side throughout your appointment to ensure your comfort and walk you through each step of the visit. She grew up Kotzebue and has lived in Anchorage for the past 10 years. She will happily recount her adventures of fishing, camping and mountain biking with her dog Loxi. Our patients love her generous smile and vibrant effervescence.
Laura, Dental Assistant
Laura is also a life long Alaskan and has over 30 years experience as an Expanded Function Dental Assistant. She has assisted side by side with Dr. Jensen since 2014, and enjoys interacting with patients and assisting with all aspects of dentistry, especially surgery. In Laura’s off time, she loves spending time with her children and grandchildren, gourmet cooking, biking, hiking, kayaking, traveling the world and music festivals. She is currently on the hunt for a new puppy.
